The Move From Florence Oregon

The move has been daunting and LONG. We have worked here and enjoyed Florence for over 15 years now.
Vernon started here with Con-Way trucking transfering over from Medford Oregon. Then in his 30+ years of trucking and working for 4 other companies finishing with flat bed trucking and Doug Hodgesons Trucking out of Monroe Oregon, it is finally retirement time.
I have worked at the Heceta Lighthouse Gift shop and finished college and aquired my degree in graphic arts and design, along with being at the Siuslaw news paper for over 5 years as a sales assistant. Although I doubt I will ever retire so to speak, I do intend on illustraitng another book like "Louie The Lonely Lighthouse" by Gegory Zchsolmer.
The hardest part of leaving will be good friends, and I can't name them all because I might forget someone and that would be horrid.
The second hardest part of leaving is getting OUT of America. Not to sound too political here.... the current administration likes our middle class incomes paying for the "give it to me free people and the illegal aliens". It has been a myriad of rules and forms and moneies out to governmental agencies to fullfill their requirements for our leaving.
As far as how I view Florence>>> I have always said "Florence is where the Mountains kiss the ocean". It is beautiful. Mostly it is a place where those who wish to get out of the rat race of big city living come to view and be apart of the oceans of Oregon. It has also become part of the "bedroom city" fore Eugene communters. They also love coming here to get out of their heat. Me personally I loved going to Eugene to get warm. It is a bit too cold windy and rainy here most of the year for me. Vernon has become accustom to it,he calls himself a weather sissy now.
We will miss the bikers on Bay St. during Rhody Weekends like you can see in this picture.
So to end this first part of my blog... as of June 21st Vernon and I will be off to Quepos Costa Rica. The retirement of our dreams.... warm and cost of living better and great medical.... I need that.
